Kickoff
School starts in two days. Today's Friday, and at 11:00 Sunday morning I start "The Residential," a one-week intensive kickoof to the program, which take place at the Ojai Valley Inn and Spa in Ojai, California somewhat near Santa Barbara. I'm sure everyone's spouse wants to go, but no dice: we're all warned not to bring anyone, as we'll be too busy to do anything but schoolwork. My friend Judy, who graduated from the program this summer, confirms this: "you'll be busy from eight in the morning until maybe eleven at night. You'll get cranky. It's best that Kristiana doesn't need to deal with it." Kristiana, instead, will be flying to Georgia to spend some time with her grandfather, who's just had cataract surgery. Today I drive her to the airport, work a normal day, pick up my car which is being repaired (broken antenna, nothing major), and come home and pack. My plan is to get up very early Saturday morning to begin the drive, then spend Saturday afternoon tooling around the Santa Barbara area. I'll check into some motel overnight and find my way to Ojai in the morning.
